The next day was the day we all have been waiting for - The summit Day.
After a rather easy trek to Pathar Nachauni, we had another easy trek to Bhagawabasa. This trek was so easy and the next camp so mesmerizing that the highlight of this day was the Bhagwabasa camp rather than the trek.
Trekking
Kalu Vinayak is the name of the Temple here and the mountain is named after that. There were conch and bells kept there. Everyone in the group was quite energetic and tried their best to blow the conch.
Pathar Nachauni was named so because of Dancers(Nachauni) that haven transformed into Stones(Pathar). This happened during one Raj Jath Yatra when a king was going to Nanda Devi. There were some dancers with him who started dancing. Nanda Devi goddess got angry and transformed them into Stones.
Shiva and Parvati had two sons - Ganesh and Kalu Vinayak. They both were asked to go all around the world. Ganesh told that my parents are my world and stayed at Kailash. Kalu Vinayak went all around the world and settled here.
Bhagwabasa is basically abode of tiger (Bagu basa). Basically After killing demon Mahishasur, Maa Durga (Parvati) went riding her tiger to Bhagwabasa and walked barefoot from there, leaving the tiger there. And so the place was named Bhagwabasa (The abode of the Tiger).
The trail from Pathar Nachauni to Bhagwabasa was rocky towards the end and the sides of the trails were scattered with snow. The trek in itself wasn't tough but the rocks were slippery at some places.
Bhagwabasa Camp
This camp was a sight in itself. It was literally on a bed of rocks. Luckily the tents were placed on big rocks and weren't poking us. However nothing made us ready for what we were about to experience here. When we reached here everything around was covered in clouds. But soon things changed.
Snow Fall
Though I have seen snow when I was a kid, I never had seen a snow fall. I had not really expected to see that in this trek as well. It was a pleasant surprise when it started snowing lightly. I was quite content with that actually. But the Himalayas had a different plan. It snowed heavily, covered the entire campsite in white. Even the tents turned white. It was a beautiful sight.
Beautiful Mountains
After the snow fall the sky cleared by evening and then we realized what awaited us behind the curtain of clouds. The Mountain looked like a "white forest" cake. It was majestic and beautiful. The weather would change and cover everything soon. But we got enough time to admire and click pictures of the most amazing view I have ever seen.
The next day was the day we all have been waiting for - The summit Day.
